John Thomas Fahey

July 19, 1922 - March 21, 2006

John Thomas Fahey, 83, of Avoca died unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in Port Huron Hospital. He was born to the late Daniel and Louise Fahey on July 19, 1922, in Saskatchewan, Canada. He lived most of his life in the Avoca area, and spent winters in Florida. He married Virginia Leaym on May 3, 1947, in Indiana.

Jack served his country during WWII, Sgt Fahey was a member of HQ Company, 3rd BN, 310th Infantry, 78th Division and served in the European Theater. Awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was Postmaster in Goodells until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #874 in Leesburg, Florida, and the VFW in Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many different sports.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Fahey of Avoca; four children, son, Thomas R. Fahey of Port Huron, daughter, Connie (Mark) Reese of Port Huron, sons, Terry J. Fahey of Imlay City and Garth E. Fahey of Port Huron; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Francis Fahey of South Bend, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Fahey, and a brother, Lester Fahey.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. Woodrow Nelson of Columbus Bible Church officiating.
