Mardelle (Van Doren) Trainor

Virginia Mardelle "Mardi" Van Doren Trainor, 85, widow of Vincent Edward Trainor, died Monday, February 11, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in South Bend, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Wendell Van Doren.

Mrs. Trainor was a homemaker and member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharron Ann and Donald Cotogno of Fritz Creek, Alaska, Kathleen Ann and William Halcrow of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent M. and Denise Trainor of Mt. Sinai, N.Y., Dennis E. Trainor and Vicki Pettit of Burke, Va.; two sisters, Eileen M. Van Doren and Genievive I. Van Doren, both of South Bend, Ind.; five grandchildren, Kasey Pittman, Meghan Trainor, Patrick Trainor, Bryan Trainor and Jillian Halcrow.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 12:10 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph of the Valley Cemetery, Grange, Indiana.
