Louise E (Pettis) Eckert

Louise M. Eckert, age 93, of Sturgis Township, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Matthew 7:7 Limited, adult foster care home in White Pigeon.Louise was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Goshen, Ind., a daughter of the late Frank S. and Bertha M. (Leverence) Pettis.

She grew up in South Bend, Ind., graduating from South Bend Central with the class of 1940. She had lived in the Sturgis area since 1940 and at her present address since 1975.

On Sept. 5, 1941, she married Robert L. Eckert in South Bend. He preceded her in death in October of l992.
Louise was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. She is survived by a son, David Eckert of MI; four grandchildren; and four cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John R. Eckert.

The family will receive relatives and friends from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Louise Eckert will then take place at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Russell Peterson officiating. Entombment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery’s Mausoleum. If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Louise to Trinity Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the church or at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
