S/SGT Howard Joseph Hans
Memorial services for S/Sgt. Howard J. Haim aged 22, son of A. H. Hans, 606 East Howard street, who was killed in action July 4 in France, will be held at 8 p. in. Tuesday in the First Christian church. Rev. Frank E. Davison, pastor, will return from his vacation to-conduct the services. Chimes will be played 15 minutes before the services. There will be several patriotic numbers and a hymnal selection. Mrs. Helen Bodine, organist of the church, will also play.

S/Sgt.- Howard J. Hans has been awarded posthumously the Silver Star and Purple Heart medal "for bravery beyond the of duty," according to word received by his father. Albert Hans. 606 East Howard street. His widow, Seaman 1/c Dorothy Hans, is stationed with the WAVES at Alameda, CA. Sgt. Hans was killed in action July 4 in France. The 22-year-old infantryman served overseas since March. 1944. A graduate of Central High school, he entered the army Oct. 3, 1942.
