Oscar Raymond Gaines

Oscar Raymond Gaines, 45, of Westland, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Ann Arbor, after an illness of five weeks.

Born on May 31, 1921, in South Bend, he married Mary Louise Scott on May 16, 1947. She survives along with two daughters, Jacquelyn and Yolanda, and two sons, Raymond and Paul, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Gaines, of South Bend; seven sisters, Mrs. Alice Coleman, Mrs. Theresa Aldrich, Miss Mary Jane Gaines and Mrs. Wilma Dorsey, all of South Bend, Mrs. Lucille Boyd of Chicago, Mrs. Naome White and Mrs. Margaret English, both of St. Louis, Mo., and two brothers, William and Robert, both of South Bend.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Westland. Burial will be in Glen Eden Cemetery, Oakland, Mich. Friends may call at the Fritz Funeral Home, 246 Ferry St., Detroit.

Mr. Gaines had been an employee of the Studebaker Corporation for 21 years.
