Frederick W. Currey

May 30, 1920 - April 16, 2001

Frederick W. Currey, 80, residing on East Indiana Ave., South Bend, died at 11:24 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Mr. Currey was born May 30, 1920, in South Bend as the son of Jacob and Eva (Wagner) Currey, and has been a lifelong resident of this community. On April 24, 1943, in South Bend he married Mary Jane Estep. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jane, along with two daughters, Linda Margret of Mishawaka, and Pattie (Rick) Christy of Lakeville. Also surviving are three grandsons, Ryan, Kevin, and Justin Christy who were the pride and joy of his live. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Elizabeth Currey; and a brother, Jay Currey.

Mr. Currey retired in 1982 from the South Bend Community School Corp., where he was employed for 34 years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Ed Fritz pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in memory of Frederick W. Currey may be offered to the American Diabetes Association, 7363 E. 21 Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
