Shirley Ann Robaska (Mesaros)

Shirley A. (Robaska) Mesaros

May 1, 1936 ~ March 15, 2023         86 Years Old

Shirley A. Mesaros, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 86. She was born on May 1, 1936 in South Bend to the late Stanley and Virginia (Nowak) Robaska and remained a lifelong resident of the area.

On February 11, 1956 in South Bend, Shirley was united in marriage to Jack W. Mesaros, who preceded her in death on June 26, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (John) Kuczmanski of South Bend; son, Mark Mesaros of Richland, Mi; grandchildren, Jacob (Erica) Kuczmanski of Palatine, IL; Rachel Kuczmanski (Gage Egierski) of Honolulu, HI and a great granddaughter, Kyla Kuczmanski. Along with her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Lechtanski, and brothers, Gene Wozny and Don Wozny.

Shirley retired with 33 years of service from Allied Signal/Bendix/Honeywell where she worked as an assembler. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Shirley was a perpetually happy person. She was always in a good mood and was pleasant to be around. Although she loved to read books and magazines, she never was one to sit still. If she wasn’t walking or exercising, she was diligently working in her yard maintaining the best lawn on the block. She enjoyed spending summers at the cottage on Christie Lake, but most of all, she loved babysitting her two grandchildren when they were growing up.

Shirley’s family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at Robin’s Nest who took such great care of her. Their commitment to making sure that Shirley was happy and comfortable is greatly appreciated.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend. Private interment will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to Mass.
