MISHAWAKA — Bertram J. “Bert” Drajus Jr., 70, of South Elder Street in Mishawaka, passed away in his residence at 10:10 a.m.Wednesday, March 14, 2007, of natural causes.

Bert was born August 26, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, to Bertram J.Sr.and Magdalene Drajus, who preceded him in death. On February 4, 1977, Bert married Ms.Barbara Turza in South Bend.Barbara survives along with two sons, Jim (Mary) Young of LaPorte, Indiana, and Jeff (Heather) Young of Mishawaka, Indiana; and two daughters, Vickie Breden of South Bend, Indiana, and Heidi (Mike) Else of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Bert is also survived by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Miosi and JoAnn Biessel, both of South Bend.

Bert was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.Friday, March 16, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana. Services will be conducted by Rev.Jim Tool of the Osceola United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.Saturday, March 17, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Bert was a veteran of the U.S.Army, serving from 1956 to 1959 as a master tank gunner in Germany before his honorable discharge.He was employed as a baker with Tip Top, in maintenance at Notre Dame, and as a cabinet maker at Georgie Boy for many years. He was a member of the Redeemer Missionary Church and the Cedar Road Missionary Church as well as Teamsters Union #364.He also belonged to the AMVET group, where memorial donations may be sent in his name, and was proud of the U.S. Marine Corps.
