Edward M. Scott, 62, of 710 N. Olive St., died at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Scott retired from the South Bend Police Department after 32 years of service. He was born Aug. 15, 1931, in South Bend and lived in South Bend most of his life.

On June 2. 1960, in  South Bend. he married Harrietta Duckworth. She survives with two daughters. Toni Graham and Kim Graham, both of South Bend; six sons, Edward Jr. Larry, and Phillippe, all of South Bend, Steven and Jesse, both of Dallas, and Darryl of Chicago; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Almeda Maefield of East St. Louis, Ill.; and a brother, Russell Jr. of Milwaukee.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be Highland Cemetery. Friends may call after noon until services Saturday in the church. Clark's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements
