Carl Joseph Smanda

Carl J. Smanda, 79, passed away at 5:30 AM Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at home. He retired in 1991 after 55 years of being a Pattern Maker. Carl was born on July 19, 1934, in South Bend, IN, to the late Louis and Theresa (Grontkowski) Smanda.

On June 6, 1969, in South Bend, he married Diane R. (Rems) Siade Smanda, who survives.

Along with his wife, Diane, Carl is also survived by two daughters, Debbie (Mark) Johnson of Lafayette, IN, and Shelly Siade of Culver, IN; two sons, Mark (Julie) Smanda of Charlotte, NC, and Scott (Karen) Siade of South Bend; and six grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Everett Johnson, Jack Smanda, Steven Siade, Derrick Siade and Meredith Siade.

One brother, Louis Smanda Jr., preceded Carl in death.

Services entrusted to Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, and Southlawn Cremation Services.
