HELEN F. (WARD) PERSON

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Helen Francis Person beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who resided on Longley Ave., South Bend, IN, departed this life at 1:25 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. She was born April 18, 1941 in South Bend, IN to the union of Eddie and Luvenia (Horne) Ward Sr.

She graduated from Central High School in 1959.

She was employed with Northern Indiana Hospital, South Bend for 24 years. After retirement she worked as a Home Health Aide for several years. She was united in Holy matrimony to Jessie Jones (deceased) February 1963 in South Bend. In 1970, she was united in Holy matrimony to Hollis Person. Helen's hobbies included playing darts, listening to music and singing. She was a proud member of the Amvets Post 66. Helen's pleasant disposition, warm heart and soul touched many lives. She enjoyed life. As we celebrate Helen's life remember Helen found happiness entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed those summer family barbeques and wonderful New Year Eve parties that she hosted.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Luvenia Ward; her husband, Hollis Person; sisters, Georgia Price and Anna Ward; brother, Eddie Ward and a grandson, Robert "Duke" Person.

Leaving to cherish her memory her children, Danny E. Smith of Indianapolis, IN, Tonya S. Ward of Scottsdale, AZ, Jessie M. Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Luvenia Person of Phoenix, AZ, Donna Nolan of Charlotte , NC, Michelle Person of South Bend, IN, Michael Person of Las Vegas, NV, Cathy C. Person of Charlotte, NC and Kelly R. Person of South Bend, IN; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Gary; one brother, John Ward; two lifelong special friends, Mrs. Charlotte Anderson and Mrs. Waleen Parker both of South Bend, IN Helen received her early Christian education at Grace A.M.E. Zion Church. She later joined the Holiness Church under Bishop Hopson. She was also a former member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church.

Services for Mrs. Helen F. Person will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN Funeral services will be held in Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow funeral services at Highland cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
