GRANGER - Robert Jerzak, 72, of Granger, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Hospice House, South Bend. Robert was born to the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Wirrant) on March 4, 1939, in South Bend. On June 29, 1963, in St. Monica Catholic Church, he married Pauline (Moshak), who preceded him in death on September 15, 1996.

Robert is survived by three sons, Robert (Traci) Jerzak of Osceola, David (Jenny) Jerzak of South Bend and Eric (Rebecca) Jerzak of Granger; three grandchildren, Luke, Nikki and Peyton Jerzak; and one sister, Nancy (Robert) Hair of Peru, IN.

Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Jerzak Jr., and one sister, Carol Oliver.

Robert enjoyed bowling, sports, gardening and watching Westerns. Robert attended Central High where he wrestled and played on the 1958 Mythical football championship team. He placed 4th in the state high school wrestling tournament. In the 1962 Northern Indiana Body Building contest, he placed 4th. Robert was drafted to serve his country with the United States Army from 1962 until 1964. Robert liked to travel, spend time with his grandchildren and watch his favorite team, the Chicago Bears. Robert worked for NIPSCO for 40 years as a pipe mechanic until his retirement in 1999.

Visitation for Robert will be held today, May 12, 2011, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN, from 2 - 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, with one hour visitation prior at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society.
