Bonnie L. (Garrett) Harris

Bonnie L. Harris, 93, passed away on Friday August 16, 2024 peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Bonnie was born on August 13, 1931, in South Bend to Harry and Dollie (Cabanaw) Garrett. She grew up in South Bend, IN attending Perley Elementary and Central High School, graduating in 1949.

Bonnie was married in June of 1954 to Howard Frank Harris, they enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. They raised two wonderful children Tami L. (Harris) Vasta - of Niles, MI and Terry B. Harris (1963-2016) of South Bend, IN. Not only was Bonnie a wonderful mother, she was an amazing grandmother to her three grandchildren, Nicholas Ansbaugh, Lindsey (Ansbaugh) Weinbrecht and Anna Vasta. Bonnie was also known as Gigi by her great children Jailyn, Ania and Nolan Weinbrecht, who she loved dearly.

Bonnie was an avid gardener and a member of the Wedgewood Park Garden Club. Bonnie also was a dedicated volunteer to children with intellectual disabilities and served Logan Center for many years. Bonnie enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and traveling in the RV.

Most of all Bonnie loved family. She was a marvelous hostess of countless family gatherings at her and Frank’s Indian Lake summer home where lots of cherished memories were made. Bonnie lived a very long and prosperous life filled with love, laughter, family and friends. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live on through all those that knew and loved her.

At this time there is no funeral; Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer North Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date
