In Memory
Helen D. (Bryan) Havens
April 24, 1928 – July 16, 2004 Helen D. Havens, 76, formerly of Ash Road in Osceola, Ind., and loving wife of over 56 years, went to be with her Savior on Friday, July 16, after an extended illness at beautiful Hamilton Grove Health Care in New Carlisle, Ind. She was born on April 24, 1928, the daughter of Lawrence Ray Bryan and Nellie (Sater) Bryan, both of whom preceded her in death, as did a brother, Lawrence “Larry” Bryan, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Dunn.
On Jan.24, 1948, in South Bend, Ind., she married Lloyd Joel Havens, who survives. Besides her husband Lloyd, she is survived by sons, Ronald (Marilyn) Havens of South Bend and Gary (Marsha) Havens of Elkhart, Ind.; sisters, Doris (Ted) Abbott of Ocala, Fla., and Maxine (Jim) Mills of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and a brother, Donald Bryan of South Bend. Also by grandsons, Joel Havens and Troy Havens; granddaughters, Amanda Havens, Angela Cackley, Molly Leddy and Megan Chandler; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Lundy; as well as many nephews and nieces.
Helen was a people-person, who could see only good in everyone and was a true joy to be around; someone who enjoyed dancing as well as participating in activities with her friends and sisters of the Order of Eastern Star. She will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives she touched, and especially her devoted husband, Lloyd.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 19, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The words in many a sonnet
Have often said it best
Of my undying love for you,
Which seems to know no rest
Though words of mine may not compete
With others of poetic art
Yet you should know these words do come
From deep within my heart.
