J. Peter O'Malley, 70, formerly of Lansing, Ml, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2005, in Phoenix, AZ, following an extended illness. Mr. O'Malley was born April 27, 1935, in Minneapolis, MN, to Roger and Mildred O'Malley.

He married Norrene Martin on July 25, 1959, in Elkhart, Indiana. His wife survives along with their three children, Colleen O'Malley of Payson, AZ, Brian O'Malley of Lansing, Ml, and Dr. Kathleen O'Malley Sandberg of Phoenix, AZ. Mr. O'Malley lived to see his first grandson, Alexander Erik Sandberg, born one month before his death. Also surviving is his sister, Susan O'Malley of Lansing, Ml.

J. Peter O'Malley graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1953. He attended college at Indiana University School of Business and graduated in 1958. He continued his education at Indiana University and graduated in 1964 with a doctorate of law. He practiced law from 1964 through the 1990s. Mr. O'Malley was also the owner of Interstate Supply and Giant Auto Stores in Lansing, Michigan.

Mr. O'Malley was a captain in the United States Army and held a position as a scholarship chairman for his fraternity, Kappa Sigma. He had been a member of the North Lansing Lions Club since the 1970s, and was a member of the Downtown Coaches Club for many years. Mr. O'Malley had traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

His body was donated to science to help find a cure for Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Arizona and to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
