John C.Turner, 63, of Channelview Drive, Elkhart, Ind., passed away at 10:40 a.m.on Sunday, Jan. 18, in Memorial Hospital. He was born in South Bend, Ind., on June 29, 1940, to the late Benjamin C.and Bernice E.(Poncher) Turner.

On Jan. 14, 1961, John married Patricia A. Verhagen in St.Patrick Church, South Bend. Surviving John is his wife, Patricia; daughters, Susan L. Turner of Elkhart and Dianne M. Turner of Mishawaka, Ind.;son, Kenneth M. Turner of Granger, Ind.;and a brother, Michael P. (Aileen) Turner of LaPorte, Ind.

He graduated from Central High School in 1958.On March 23, 2001, John retired from Ameritech (SBC) after 32 years where he worked as a cable splicer. John’s passion was aviation, but his family was his first love.Some of his hobbies included wood working, building and flying aircraft, drawing and landscaping. He was a member of St.Vincent Church in Elkhart, Telephone Pioneers, Wings Flying Club, Experimental Aircraft Association, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and Seaplane Pilots Association.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.21, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.Mayflower Road.A Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.on Thursday, Jan.22, in St.Hedwig Church.Burial will be at St.Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chiara Home, Incorporated, 1105 W. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46601
