Francis P. "Toby" Nagy

Francis P. “Toby” Nagy, age 85, residing in South Bend, passed away Monday afternoon, August 15, 2022, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Toby was born May 30, 1937, in South Bend, a son of the late Emery and Anna Nagy, and has been a lifelong resident.

On May 18, 1974, in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Kay Recla who preceded him in death on July 10, 1999. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Niezgodski, Irene Niedosik and Anna Deak, as well as two brothers, Joe and Vince Nagy, and his longtime companion, Lorene Elias.

Toby retired as a die setter from Raco, Inc. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 284, D.A.V. and Veterans of Foreign War. Toby was an avid sports fan. He was most loyal to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and New York Yankees. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos where he was often a lucky winner.

He is survived by his daughter Stacey (Austin) Burton of Indianapolis, stepdaughters Holly Beauprez of Mishawaka and Cara Worrell of South Bend; five grandchildren and his brother Emery Nagy of Mishawaka. Also surviving are Lorene’s daughters Susan (Bruce) Cybulski and Carolyn (Frank Leddy) Biggs, both of South Bend.

Private services will be held on Friday, August 19 at the Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Rev. Terry Fisher will officiate. Cremation will take place and burial at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
