Melvin was definitely one of the guys youngsters like myself looked up to because he was fantastic athlete. I remember watching him play football and running track at School Field. I did not know him close up and personal but he always seemed like a real cool guy. My sister, Nell, and brother, Sonny, verified my assumption. Rest In Peace, Melvin. No more pain and no more sorrow. Just joy.

Even though we have had no contact since our CHS 1958 graduation, I consider it a life-long blessing to have known Melvin during our high school years. Rest in Peace Melvin..
