Marilyn LaVonne (Kaley) Griffith

SOUTH BEND - Marilyn L. (Kaley) Griffith, 69, passed away on June 7, 2016, peacefully at home surround by family. 
Marilyn was born on October 9, 1946, in Rochester, IN, to the late Harold LaVon and Margaret Eileen (Bryant) Kaley.

On November 7, 1971, in Lydick, IN, as Marilyn Scanlan, she married Wendell H. Griffith.  Marilyn is survived by her husband, Wendell, and children, all from South Bend: Rhonda (Danny) Sobieralski, Ronnie (Dawn) Scanlan, Joe Scanlan and Andy (Alice) Griffith; eleven grandchildren, all from South Bend: LaVonne (Robb) Kasprzak, Allen Sobieralski, Ronnie Scanlan III, Nick (Caylie) Scanlan, Jonathan Scanlan, Ashlie Nicks, Isaiah Nicks, Kevin Scanlan, Kristen Scanlan, Josh Scanlan and AJ Griffith; four great-grandchildren; surviving siblings: Ray (Mary) Kaley of Colorado Springs, CO, Carolyn Peppers and Helen Kaley, both from South Bend; surviving mother-in-law, Juanita Griffith, and a brother-in-law, Brian Griffith, both of South Bend; sisters-in-law: Charlotte (Joe) Barrier of South Bend, Lisa (Dave) Moak of Vacaville, CA, Brenda Matthews of Chandler, AZ; and several very special nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a devoted wife and friend. She loved having her grand and great- grandchildren at home and spending overnight visits. She loved to knit, crochet, and sitting on her back porch painting statues. She loved doing and giving crafts to family and friends. Many family and friends will miss her wonderful haircuts. She was also a past Treasurer and longtime member of Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club.

Visitation will be at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Kaniewski Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Edison Road near Mayflower.
