Sue Ann (Robinson) Ciesiolka

Sue Ann (Robinson) Ciesiolka, 85 years old, passed away at 6:05 am on Monday, September 25, 2023. Sue received the call to join her husband of 60 years for eternal rest. She passed away at the Ernestine Raclin House, Center for Hospice in Mishawaka.

Born on August 27, 1938 to the late Jack E. Robinson and Rowena (Rau) Robinson at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Norbert George Joseph Ciesiolka; sisters-in-law, Rita May Ciesiolka, Jeanette E. (Budzinski) Ciesiolka; brothers-in-law, Al Zieler, Dan Young and Marvin J. Ciesiolka; and nephews, Kevin Zieler and David C. Ciesiolka.

Left to cherish the memory of Sue is her loving daughter, Cindy Sue Ciesiolka; brother, Jon Leroy Robinson; sisters-in-law, Wilma Joyce (Yates) Robinson and Virginia (Ciesiolka) Young; nieces, Jill (Todd) Chestnut, Kathy Zieler, Karen Dempski; and extended family members, Greg (Jennifer) Doms, Reese Doms, and Brayden Doms.

Sue grew up at 709 Saint Joseph Street on the River in downtown South Bend. She was a proud rainbow girl at the Masonic Temple. She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1956. Sue met the love of her life, Norbert, at her job of seven years at the United States Department of Agriculture Surveyors office. On July 27, 1963, they eloped. She stopped work to be a stay home wife and mother as per Norberts request. Sue became a financial organizer of her husband’s 4th generation farm in New Carlisle. She raised her family with good old-fashioned values, and high standards of life, love and always do the right thing.

Sue had many friends. Her neighborhood school friends were the Hollywood movie producer, Sydney Pollack, the Book Author and TV Show Creator, Ralph McInerny. She also spent time with President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, and many more.

Sue’s passions are gardening, sewing, chauffeuring her daughter and friends to all Notre Dame Concerts. She loved her cats, home card parties, and Notre Dame football parties.

Sue will be happily buried at the University of Notre Dame, Cedar Grove Cemetery next to her loving husband, and his first generation in America (1803) family. Next to Ara Parseghian “GO IRISH”

Friends and family will be received from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Road, South Bend, with a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame.
