Randy Owen Snyder

SOUTH BEND - Randy Owen Snyder, 67, died Saturday, March 28 at his home. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Cheryle (Okaly) Snyder; his son, Anthony W. Snyder and his wife, Stacy; daughters, Andrea Marie and Melissa Elaine Snyder; and three grandsons, Chaz Scruggs, Keagen Scruggs and Koby Scruggs.
Surviving also are his mother, Ruth E. (Steele) Snyder; a sister, Kathleen (Brent) Sonner; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Sandra) Scott and John Okaly; and mother-in-law, Sylvia Okaly. Randy was born on June 20, 1947 in South Bend and lived in the area his whole life.
He graduated from Central High School and later completed classes at Ivy Tech. He was employed at Thermoplastics and Michiana Plastics for 25 years as a mold maker. In 1965 Randy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an Elder with the South Mishawaka Kingdom Hall for 40 years and considered this his large extended family. After retirement he started his own business, "Handy Randy" services. Randy loved spending time with his family and was a devoted father and spouse who was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Whether playing cards, singing karaoke or talking cars, he always expressed enthusiasm and a love of life. He was a source of strength, security and comfort for his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 4th at the South Mishawaka Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2431 Filbert Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. The family will receive guests starting at 6:00 pm and the service will begin at 7:00 pm. Donations may be made to the South Mishawaka Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
