Rowene M. (Yore) Hauck
July 18, 1907 - May 5, 2000
Rowene (Yore) Hauck, 92, of Lansdown Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Friday, May 5. She was born on July 18, 1907, to William and Paulene (Lee) Yore i in South Bend, and had been a lifetime resident. Rowene graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1926.
On Aug. 15, 1928, in South Bend, she married Arthur F. Hauck, who preceded her in death in 1985.
She was employed by the South Bend Tribune and the South Bend Water Works before her retirement in 1972. Her ability to create beautiful needlepoint was her favorite pastime. She was a campaign worker for former Mayor Lloyd M. Allen and, until recently, still volunteered for the St. Joseph County Republican Party. Rowene was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star #569 and the Avalon Grotto Auxiliary.
Surviving to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sharon (Bert) Chudzicki of South Bend; a son, James (Marcy) Hauck of Orlando, Fla.; three granddaughters, Debbie (Dan) Arndt of South Bend, Beth (Joe) Crovetti of Alfred, Fla., and Kim (Rolfe) Reed of Lake Worth, Fla.; two grandsons, Gregory and Michael Hauck of Connecticut; and three greatgranddaughters and one greatgrandson.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today, May 7. in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 521 N. William. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Bock of Elmore, Ohio. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Pall bearers will be Gregory and Michael Hauck, Joe Crovetti, Rolfe Reed, and Daniel and Rob Arndt.
