Anton "Tex" Bella

Anton "Tex" Bella was born on Oct. 17, 1917, in South Bend to Anton and Mary (Kovacs) Bella. He married Katherine "Kay" C. DuBois on June 16, 1940, in South Bend.

He attended Central High School in South Bend and dropped out to join the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 16. Bella began his career at Studebaker Corp. on Nov. 17, 1939, where he was a bench assembler. He later worked for many years in Department 210, installing glass and trim. He was laid off in 1942 and then joined the Bendix Aviation Corp. until joining the Army Air Forces in 1943. He retired from Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. in 1979, after 16 years of service.

He was a member of the Osceola Grace Brethren Church for more than 50 years, where he served as a trustee, assistant treasurer and deacon. Formerly of Osceola, he died at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton.
