Stanley Wayne Kile, 84, residing on Whitcomb Ave., South Bend, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born April 5, 1918, in Rochester, Indiana as the son of Ray E. & Ruby (Leap) Kile and has lived in the South Bend community all of his life. He retired in 1983 from the Bendix Corp. as a Supervisor following more than 30 years of service.

On May 14, 1938, in Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Bend, he married Jane A. Joers. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 64 years, Jane, along with five children, Carol Sue Gresham of Princeton, KY; Paul W. (Karen) of Walkerton; Katherine (Dennis) Burgess of South Bend; Marcia L. (Gregory) Bahler of South Bend; and Robert Ross (Sandra) Kile of Brussells, Belgium. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Mike, Jack, Greg, Jocelyn, Lisa, Lori, Lynette, Stephanie, Kelly, Brianne, Stacy, and Bradlee; nine great-grandchildren: Marae, Madysen, Jacob, Kyle, Austin, Garrett, McKenzie, Mason, and Lillian; one brother, Charles Kile of South Bend.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Ray Kile, a brother, Foster Kile, a sister, Letha Kile, and two grandchildren, Douglas Kile & Ryan Bahler.

Mr. Kile was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Bend; was a 1936 graduate of South Bend Central High School, a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 284, member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58, and served his country during WWII in the Marine Corp, having been honorably discharged June 4, 1946.

Services for Stanley Kile will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend. Rev. Russell Snyder will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
