Effie Mae (Grady) Wilson

Effie Grady Wilson, 71, of 117 Disbrow Street, Cassopolis, Mich., expired on Saturday, July 4, in Woodfield Manor Nursing Home, Niles, Mich. Her death followed an extended illness. She was born on Nov. 11, 1926, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Governor and Lula Grady.

She graduated from South Bend Central High School with the class of 1944. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked at Bonwitt Teller and Lord and Taylor. After retirement, she moved back to the Michiana area, where she resided in Cassopolis. Effie was a member of First A.M.E. Zion Church.

She leaves to mourn her passing a son, Anthony Wilson of Chicago; three sisters, Doris Grady and Norma Weaver, both of South Bend and Catherine (Frank) Greene of Lynwood, Ill.; three brothers, Spencer (Lillie) Grady and Barry (Mabel) Grady, both of South Bend, and Governor (Geraldine) Grady of Overland Park, Kan.; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Governor Grady Sr.; a sister, Annie Ruth Nichols; and by a brother, Burdette Grady.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday in Clark's Funeral Chapel and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in First A.M.E. Zion Church followed by burial in Highland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Clark's Funeral Chapel.
