Howard Edward “Barney” Frick

Howard "Barney" Edward Frick, 82, of Lake Trail, Bremen, Ind., passed away at 10:50 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Ind.

Mr. Frick was born on Sept. 12, 1921, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Walter and Clara (Wilhelm) Frick . On Nov. 2, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he married Mary Amitrano.

Barney is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary; a daughter, Mary Albert of South Bend; a son, Joseph (Sandy) Frick of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Kevin Frick, Jeremy Frick, Andy Frick, Jonathan Albert and Amy Albert; a sister, Dorothy Anders of Dowagiac, Mich.; and a brother, Kenneth Frick of Bremen. He was preceded in death by one great grandson, Noah Patrick Frick on Sept. 17, 2003; five brothers, Jack, Durwood, Woody, Rollo and Walter; and two sisters, Helen and Alberta.

Barney was a graduate of Central High School, where he played on the basketball team. He was a member of the South Bend F.O.P.
