Dr. Chauncey Merrill Pierce
Sep. 29, 1885 - Feb. 16, 1961
Chauncey Pierce was the son of William A. Pierce and Louisa A. Bancroft.
Born at Osceola, Indiana, he received his education at South Bend (Indiana) High School and Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He finished medical school in 1908 and married Margaret Bennett in Chicago on July 3, 1909. He had a medical practice in Chicago until 1916 and then was employed by the International Harvester Co. for four years.
In 1921, he moved to Chadron, Nebraska, where he practiced medicine for almost 40 years. He founded the Pierce Clinic in Chadron, which later grew into Chadron Medical Associates. He also started the first hospital in Chadron. Chauncey and his wife, who died in 1960, had one daughter, Rita, who was born at Chicago in 1910.
