Anna Edith Beyrer

June 20, 1886 - July 8, 1986

Edith Beyrer, 100, of Medco Nursing Center, died at 5:30 a.m. today in the nursing home. Miss Beyrer was an English teacher at the former Central Junior High School from 1918-1954. She also taught at Franklin and Muessel schools from 1908-1918. She retired from teaching after a 47-year career. She was born June 20, 1886, in Wabash, Ind., and had lived in South Bend since 1897, coming from Kirklin, Ind.

She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services in the church. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was a graduate of the former Central High School and Indiana University. She was the oldest Member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, member of the Philathea Class and Women's Association, of which she held many offices, and Cancer Sewing Group, all of the church, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 2 for 41 years, National Retired Teachers Association, and Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Her father, C.C. Beyrer, was a circuit rider for the Lutheran church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
