Joy Lynn (Kring) Blake
February 11, 1944 ~ March 11, 2025 (age 81)
Joy Lynn (Kring) Blake of Elkhart, IN went home to be with her Lord on March 11, 2025 at the age of 81. She was born February 11, 1944 in South Bend, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Melvin G. Kring and Marjorie M. (Colditz) Kring. Joy was married to Robert M. Blake on Aug. 17, 1963 in the First Brethren Church of Ardmore, South Bend, Ind. by Rev. C. Wm. Cole.
Surviving Joy are her daughters: Letisha L. Treble of Elkhart, Tonya S. (Michael) Stahly of South Bend; and granddaughters: Tre (Adam) Herendeen, Tia Stahly and Abby Stahly, and Great Granddaughters, Finley and Norah Herendeen. She is also survived by a sister, Wendy (Don) Jensen (Bloomington), sister-in-law Barbara Kring (South Carolina), nieces: Kara (Michael) Snow (Colorado), Audra Kring-Miles, (South Carolina), Adele Miles (South Carolina), Hannah Kring (So. Carolina), and Cayce Kring (So. Carolina), and nephews: Matthew (Biyu), Theo, Erik and Lucas Jensen (New Jersey), Todd Kring, Brent Kring, Cole Kring, Samual Miles, Dalton Kring (all of South Carolina) and Rowen Snow of Colorado. Joy is preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Kring of Aiken, So. Carolina.
She was a member of the First Brethren Church of Elkhart having served as Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary and a volunteer in the food pantry, (Christ’s Commissary). Joy loved music and was involved in directing and participating in contatas and pageants in the churches she attended in Indiana, California and Ohio. Joy attended Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, Muessel Elementary School, SB Central Jr. High School, SB Central High School, SB Washington High School, Ashland College (Ohio) and Ivy Technical School in So. Bend, Ind.
Joy enjoyed working in the receiving area at Robertson’s Dept. Store in So. Bend for 11 years, Gene’s Camera Store (SB), and in accounts payable at Cardinal Foods and Big Lots, Inc. (Columbus, Ohio)
Joy enjoyed spending time with her very busy granddaughters along with traveling, cross-stitching and reading.
Cremation will be held.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Brethren Church of Elkhart on March 22, 2025. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 PM. Celebration of Life service will be at 4PM.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
Contributions may be made to the Brethren Retreat scholarship Fund for Youth Camp, Boy's Town, and St Jude's.
