James V. Sheets

ARGOS – James V. “Jim” Sheets, 75, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer at his residence, 15675 Michigan Road, Argos, Ind., at 1:37 p.m.on Monday, June 14. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Feb.14, 1929, the son of Fredrick C. and Elizabeth Shanto Sheets. He attended Central High School in South Bend.
He was a member of the Indiana National Guard. On Aug.28, 1970, in LaPaz, Ind., Jim and Linda Wallace were married. He retired in 1986 after 25 years working at Bendix/Allied Signal in South Bend.He was a storekeeper. Jim enjoyed fishing and taking walks with his wife.Washing vehicles and hunting.He loved his family very much, and enjoyed traveling with his kids when they were younger.
Linda, Jim’s wife of almost 34 years, survives his death, together with two sons and two daughters and their families.
They are:Jim Lee and Pam Sheets of Elkhart, Ind., Wade and Sue Sheets of South Bend, Ind., Kathy and Timothy Hann of Mishawaka, Ind., and Danita and Rick Rice of Argos. Eleven grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive, together with a brother and sister- in-law, Michael and Helen Sheet of South Bend.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Karen McCray, who died in 1983.
Friends will be welcomed by the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services for Jim will be held in Grace Baptist Church, 1830 N.Michigan St., Plymouth, where Jim was a member, on Friday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m.Pete Wardlow, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be at New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Jim’s name may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
