Bernice K. (Hagman) Geyer
March 22, 1903 - March 17, 2002
Bernice K. Geyer, 98, of North Ironwood Road, formerly of Kent and Clinton Streets, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, March 17, in Regency Place of South Bend. Mrs. Geyer was born March 22, 1903, in South Bend, to Bernard and Rose (Kochendorfer) Hagman, and was a lifetime area resident.
On Dec. 30, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., as Bernice K. Hagman, she married Fred H. Geyer, who preceded her in death July 10, 1967. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta E. Heyde, Mabel Horvath and Irene Celmer; and by two brothers, LeRoy F. Hagman and Vernon Hagman.
She is survived by a brother, Arthur Hagman of South Bend; and by many nieces and nephews, including Richard C. (Judy) Heyde, Eugene Zbrieranski and Beverly (Dale) Wooten, all of South Bend, Suzanne (Donald) Holloway of Decatur, Mich., Joyce (Dennis) Dee of Michigan City, Ind., Joan (Dennis) Laughlin of Bolingbrook, Ill., Bonnie Sue (Ed) Mungai of Elgin, IlI., and David Nagy and Sharon Nagy (Frank) Fish of Indianapolis, Ind.
Mrs. Geyer was a member of St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, Lakeville, Ind., Chapter #479 Order of Eastern Star, and Messiah Shrine #10 White Shrine. She attained the office of Supreme Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine, and was a leader for the Rainbow Girls in South Bend for many years.
A White Shrine memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today, March 20, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Kathy Miller Crook officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services today win the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46601.
