SOUTH BEND - Harry Stoddard Driggs, 93, of Calvert Street, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Driggs retired in 1968 from Rieth-Riley Construction Co. after 20 years of service as an engineer. He was born Dec. 22, 1902, in Connellsville, Pa., and lived in South Bend most of his life.

On June 24, 1926, in South Bend, married Dorothy A. Denyes. She died Dec. 29, 1986.

He is survived by a son, Hal of Sedona, Ariz.;  four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Priddy of South Bend, and Mary Carlson and Betty Dutour, both of East Hazel Crest, Ill.; brothers, Robert D. of Port Richey, Fla., and Dick W. of New Port Richey, Fla.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame; was city controller 1939-43; past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge 235; and a member of Coquillard Chapter of Sons of American Revolution, St. Joseph Valley Notre Dame Club, Notre Alumni Association, Northern Indiana Historical Society, South Area Genealogical Society and First Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. day in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
