Ruby Jean Butler
April 8, 1949 ~ October 12, 2024 75 Years Old
Ms. Ruby Jean Butler, a resident of South Bend, IN, left this life and went to forever rest in comfort on October 12, 2024. Ruby was born on April 8, 1949, in Biloxi, MS to James Butler and Melvina Price, both proceeded her in death.
Ruby moved to South Bend where she graduated from Central High School. She then relocated to Flint, MI and worked many years as a CNA at Hurley Hospital. Ruby later returned to South Bend to be with her family.
Ruby was fun, loving, and very outspoken. She loved her family, laughed a lot with her grandchildren, but it was her great grandchildren who brought on the happy tears and always brightened her day. It was rare to hear the name Ruby. To her family she was known as Jean, Ruby Jean, or as one of her granddaughters would affectionately yell out ‘hey R.J’.
Ruby loved many things related to crafts. She skillfully knitted sweaters, scarfs, hats, gloves, and if you were so lucky, you got a few of those potholders. She loved art, word search puzzles, bingo, and game shows were usually on her television.
Loving family members left to miss her and cherish her memory are her two daughters Crystal (Louie) Foster, Charlotte Williams, and her son Carlos (Angie) Williams Sr. of South Bend, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Nachelle (DeCarlo) Redding, Darius (Natalie) Lipsey, Paris (Yul) Thomas, Daijah Foster, Darshay Foster, Raven (Danny) Degraphenreed, Jasmine Williams, Jae’Twana Williams, Jae’Quan Williams, Carlos Williams Jr., Caitlyn Williams, and Carly Williams all of South Bend, IN, and Charles Lee of Flint, MI; 19 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Butler and Vanessa Price of Milwaukee, WI, and Annette Price of Austin, TX; four brothers, Curtis (Cynthia) Price Sr. of San Diego, CA, Terry Price of Savannah, GA, Donald (Butch) Price-Miller of , San Bernardino, CA, and Dana (Lana) Price of Austin, TX; an aunt Marilyn Davis and uncle Jesse (Louise) Griffin both of South Bend, IN; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Also proceeding Ruby in death were her grandparents Jesse and Corine Griffin, son Charles ‘Poochie’ Williams Jr., twin granddaughters Ranae’ and Railyn Dotson, sister Lee Doris Battles, and brother Gilbert Price.
