John D. Wilmore

John D. Wilmore, 92, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Sherman Avenue, South Bend, Ind. died on Thursday morning, Dec.2, at his residence. He was born on Nov.24, 1907 in Ridgeville, Ind. to the late Guy and Estella (Ferguson) Wilmore. On August 17, 1932, he married the former Virginia Fidler who died on Nov. 23,1997.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Al) Wiebe of Fairfield, Ohio; and a son, Thomas L. (Sharon) Wilmore of Hinsdale, Ill.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Wilmore retired from Central High School in 1971 after 40 years of Service, During his service with South Bend Community School Corporation, he taught mathematics at Central and became head of the math department. He was a coach for the swimming, cross country and track teams from 1931 to 1941. He was awarded the Sam Wagner Award recognizing excellence in teaching and athletics for students. Mr. Wilmore was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he belonged to the Mizpah Class of the church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
