SOUTH BEND - Memorial services for Wilma "Bill" Thomas, 76, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of South Bend, who died Monday in Arlington, Texas, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Hugh M. Moore & Sons Funeral Home, Arlington. Cremation has taken place with burial in Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society of Fort Worth, Texas, or People Helping People, Granbury, Texas 76048.
Mrs. Thomas retired in 1979 from Uniroyal Plastics Co. Inc., Mishawaka, as a sales administrator. She was born April 2, 1914, in Winamac and had lived in South Bend until 1958.
She is survived by a son, William A. of Arlington; two grandsons; and three sisters, Kathryn MacDonald of Bedford, Texas, Olive Lebo of South Bend, Helen Long of Logansport, Ind. She was known as "Rosie-the-Riveter" on a B-17 bomber assembly line during World War II, played semi-professional basketball and soft ball before and during World War IL, was a volunteer for People Helping People, and a graduate of the former Central High School.
