Daniel Gallivan

Nov. 28, 1929 – July 7, 2003 Daniel Gallivan, 73, of South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness on Monday, July 7, in Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov.28, 1929, in South Bend, to Frederick T. and Julia M. (Bulka) Gallivan.

Mr.Gallivan is survived by his siblings, Marcia Hill of Rock Island, Ill., Timothy D. Gallivan Sr.(Joan) of South Bend, Patrick M.Gallivan of South Bend and Lawrence L.Heuett of Honolulu, Hawaii; a nephew, Lance Hill (Jan) of Big Pine Key, Fla.; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr.Gallivan retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation as chief appraiser for the division of land acquisition, working for 35 years. He was a veteran of the Navy. He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1948 and Indiana University with a degree in business. Dan was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and visited Poland, Hong Kong and Hawaii, and loved to go on cruises.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Memorial ICU for their wonderful care of Daniel. Funeral services will be held today, July 9, at 7 p.m.in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.Joseph County or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
