Patricia B. Bailey

June 9, 1951 ~ February 9, 2024 (age 72)

Patricia Bailey (Pat) transitioned to Heaven on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:20 p.m.  She was born June 9, 1951, to Allene and William McMorris. 

Pat attended Linden Elementary School, Central Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1969.  She went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree from Trine University.  Pat’s major employment companies include Bendix, Liberty Mutual and Hoffman Insurance Group where she served as a commercial insurance agent. 

She had a great love to serve and help people in need; and help people grow and become all that they desired to be.  Her many contributions and activities in the church and community are notable.  Pat was a life-long member of Greater St. John M.B. Church where she served in numerous capacities including Junior Ushers, Transportation Committee, Sunday Breakfast team, bereavement services, General President of the Missionaries, Circle 7 President, various community, and youth outreach activities; and leadership and coordination of numerous events including the church’s 100 Year Celebration.  Pat also served as a founding member of the local Indiana Black Expo Chapter and pageant coordinator (instilling inner beauty and self-esteem) and a board member of the South Bend Urban League. 

Pat was so gifted artistically! . . . even in how she dressed, you could see “art in motion.”  She also loved doing various kinds of crafts and she was excellent at interior decorating.  She was an entrepreneur and had a number of small businesses including greeting cards, cupcakes, and antiquing.   Pat was an active member of her book club and birthday club.  Pat just loved, loved, loved fellowshipping with family and friends. 

Pat was preceded in death by both her parents, William, and Allene McMorris.  She leaves to celebrate her legacy two sisters Luann (James) Bridges and Pam Harris; her niece, Carmen (Herschell) Williams; her grandniece, Zion Joy Williams; her grandnephew, Jonathan Isaiah Williams and a host of other family and friends. 

Funeral Service will be at 11am on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Greater St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church 101 N. Adams St. South Bend, IN 46628, where family and friends may begin to gather at 10am. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628 is assisting the family with arrangements.
