Frank C Fahey - Class Of 1942

Francis C. Fahey, 90, of South Bend passed away on Tuesday, August 25th at Your Home Assisted Care in South Bend surrounded by his loving family.

 Frank was born on April 23, 1925 in Clifford, MI to the late Daniel C. and Louise E. (Curry) Fahey. He moved to Indiana in 1938 coming from Michigan. On December 4, 1944 in Charleston, SC he married the former Mary B. Biscan who preceded him in death on January 18, 1998.

Mr. Fahey is survived by two daughters, Patricia L. (Dale) Brindley and Mary F. (Kurt) Youngs both of Granger, IN;  one son, Jeffery J. Fahey of Naperville, IL; his companion Joan Kopczynski of South Bend and four grandchildren, Scott A. Fahey, Kimberly M. Fahey, Jacob M. Youngs and Jaclyn M. Youngs. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law Mary Ann Fahey.

Frank was preceded in death by one son Dennis F. Fahey on October 19, 2014 and two brothers, Lester D. and John T. Fahey.

 Frank retired in 1987 from McKinley Lumber after many years of service as a Yard Supervisor.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post 357 in South Bend where he enjoyed spending Friday nights with his friends. He also enjoyed going to breakfast with his Monday Breakfast Group, listening to country music and playing the slot machines at the casino.  He loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and attending the Girls Notre Dame basketball games with his son and daughter-in-law.  He cherished his trip to Ireland with his two daughters and going on the WWII Honor Fight to Washington D.C.

Mr. Fahey was a great conversationalist with a keen Irish sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and all his friends.

The family would to thank Julie and her staff for the care they gave Frank.

Visitation will be held Thursday August 27th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons “Southwest Chapel” Funeral Home, State Rd 23/W. Ireland Rd, South Bend.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday August 28th at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Glen Kohrman officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
