Gloria D. (Gulley) Boyden

Gloria D. Boyden, 73, passed away Monday, December 4, in South Bend, Indiana.

She was born Gloria D. Gulley on August 5, 1933, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to the late Leatha Alice Gulley (Franklin) and D.C. Gulley. Gloria was tne second of seven girls: the late Gwendolyn Franklin, Henrietta “Pie” Sanders (Joseph), Rozelia Hill (George) of South Bend, IN, Susie Chandler, Deloris Walker and Linda Franklin of Washington, D.C.

Her childhood was spent in Monroe, Louisiana. The family moved from Louisiana to South Bend, IN, in May 1948, where she attended Central High School.

On October 12, 1957, Gloria married the late Lewis W. Boyden Sr. Together they raised and are survived by
eight children: six daughters, Valeria Jordan of Washington, D.C., Carmen Boyden, Letha Boyden and Alvina Boyden of South Bend, IN, Gail D. Boyden of Philadelphia, PA, and Roxie Ann Boyden of South Bend, IN; and two sons, Lewis W. Boyden II (Janie) of Granger, IN, and Jacob Boyden (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren, Danan Jordan Sr. (Elisa), Darwin Jordan (Joan), Ryan Edwards, Arica Jones, Shayla Chapman (Demetrius Sr.), Donald Williams, Frank Campbell, Gloria Boyden, Lewis W. Boyden III, Leslie and Lyron Boyden; 10 great-grandchil-dren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Roseland Congregation.

The visitation was held in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home located at 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628, December 8, 2006, from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service followed from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. A second memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, December 9, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Roseland Congregation, located at 26807 US Highway 20, South Bend, IN 46628. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
