1940 ~ 2023 (age 82)

Betty Mae Lott, age 82, found rest peacefully in her sleep at home on January 28th, 2023. Betty was born on May 24th, 1940 to the union of Amelia and Lester Smith Sr. in South Bend, IN.

Betty went to Linden Elementary and Central High School.

After high school, she united in marriage with Willie Earl Lott on December 29, 1957 and started a beautiful family. She worked in nursing for many years and retired from Memorial Hospital after over 30 years of service. 

Betty loved the joy in arts and crafting. She was talented sketch artist and excellent with floral arranging and decorating. Betty was an artist at heart. She often would assist family members and others with decorating their home, for a wedding or other event.

Betty Mae is survived by her husband Willie Earl Lott, son Brandon (Rosemary) Lott, daughters Bethany Kay Harris, Shannon Raquel Lott, Laurel Nicole Lott all of South Bend, IN and daughter-in-law Natalie Lott of Indianapolis, IN. Grandchildren Tennille Lott of Atlanta, GA, Christopher (Latrese) Redding Sr. of South Bend, IN, Rachel Brianna (David) McKissic, Krystina Lott, Brandon Stephen Lott of Indianapolis, IN., and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Betty Mae was second born of 13 children. Her surviving siblings are Lester Sr. (Brenda) Smith Chicago, IL, Dennis Smith Arlington, TX, Thomas (Irma) Smith, Lake Elsinore, CA, Patricia Webb Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Brian (Susan) Ali Kankakee, IL, and Nancy Reid Charlotte, North Carolina. Raymond (May) Smith, William Smith, David Smith of South Bend IN. Sister-in-law Thelma Smith Reynoldsburg, OH.

Proceeding in death are her parents, maternal grandparents Calvin and Betty Gunn paternal grandparents Eddie and Liller Smith, daughter Shari Lynn Moore, son Randall Stephen Lott, brothers Charles Robert Smith Sr., Larry Allen Smith and John Calvin Sr. 

And also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues to cherish Betty’s memory.
