ANDREA (WAFFORD) WASHINGTON

Sept. 27, 1955 - Jan. 20, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Andrea (Wafford) Washington was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Andrea was born September 27, 1955, in South Bend, IN, to Mary (Wafford) Jones and the late Aaron Griffin.

She was a product of the South Bend Community School Corporation where she attended both elementary and Central High School.

In Denver, CO, on October 1, 1977, she united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Edward Washington, and this union raised three children. Andrea was employed at the former F W Means Laundry for 20 years. She and her husband became proprietors of Diamond Ice Company and "Little Linda's Restaurant," named for their deceased daughter, Linda Washington. Believers Church of God in Christ was her church where she worked faithfully. Whatever was asked of her, she never said no. She actively participated in many ministries, such as the Pastor's Aid and she was Treasurer, Nursing, Hospitality and Believers Departments CWC.

Being a Christian, Andrea knew that this day would come and she planned carefully and waited for this glorious event! She believed in God, meditated and studied God's word diligently, and obediently served Him. God also gave her a gift of love, especially for her family, which she generously shared. This love was also extended to many others. Loving memories will be forever etched in the mind of her many, many family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Aaron Griffin, and her daughter, Linda Washington, siblings, John Wafford, Celastine Wafford and Camelia McDowell, maternal grandparents, Curtis and Sallie Bush, and maternal grandmother, Elma Griffin.

Survivors left to cherish her loving memory include her husband, Edward Washington; two children, Catrina Perry and Theodore Perry Jr.; her mother, Mary Jones; eight grandchildren & four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Patricia Wafford, Sonya Griffin, Tonya (Charles) Buggs, all of South Bend, Elma (Norris) Benjamin, Denver, CO, Larcine Bronson of Dixie Mills, AL, Bruce (Tara) Griffin, Aurora, CO, and Charles Griffin of Mobile, AL; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Believer's Church of God in Christ, with viewing occurring at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
