Clement (Clem) A. Trytko, 87, of South Bend, IN., passed away peacefully at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 in South Bend Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. Clem was born on May 7, 1924 in South Bend to Walter and Clara (Turkowski) Trytko, and lived here all his life.

He attended South Bend schools and played football at Central High School.

At 17 years old, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Edwards in the Pacific Ocean theatre. On August 4, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Wanatah, IN., Clem married Jeanne F. Conlon. Jeanne survives along with their nine children, Dan (Jane) Trytko of Mt. Morris, MI., Sue (Tom) Spink of Granger, IN., Pete (Sally Rose) Trytko of South Bend, Tim Trytko of Campbell, CA., Greg Trytko of Granger, Peggy Trytko of South Bend, Cindy Trytko of Anderson, AK. Chris (Abby) Trytko of Walkerton, IN., and Pamela (Bill) Stephenson of Parma, MI., eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters, Monica (Donald) Bice of Syracuse, IN., and Elizabeth Wood of Brazil, IN.

Two brothers, Ben Trytko and Gene Trytko and two sisters, Valerie Szabo and Verna Nowak, preceded him in death.

Clem was a machinist working at the Studebaker Corporation until 1963 and for Dodge Manufacturing where he retired from in 1980. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he also served as an usher. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Harris Township and he was a Cub Scout Leader. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Julius A. Nieuwland 4th Degree Assembly #242 where he served as Past Faithful Navigator. Ever loving and always worried, he spent his life caring for his family. He touched many lives with his kindness and will be remembered fondly.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Memorial Medical Group, University Park Family Medicine, the 2nd floor Health Care Center at the Sanctuary of St. Paul's and the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as Dr. William Doctor and Dr. Raman Mitra.

Family and friends may call on Sunday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka from 2 until 6 p.m. where there will be a vigil service at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, Indiana. Monsignor William C. Schooler will officiate the services with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
