CATHERINE J. (NESBITT) TROTTER

June 26, 1935 - Feb. 14, 2007
SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Catherine June Trotter, 71, of Ontario, CA, passed away on Feb. 14 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, after an extended illness. Mrs. Trotter is a former resident of South Bend. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 26, 1935, to the late Guy and Evelyn Nesbitt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Guy Nesbitt III.

Catherine attended South Bend Central High School and completed her professional training at Evelyn's Elite School of Cosmetology. She was an established cosmetologist in both South Bend and Los Angeles, CA. For many years she was proprietor of Catherine's Golden Touch Beauty Salon. She authored a book titled "Black Hebrew Culture and Graven Images."

While living in South Bend, Mrs. Trotter was a ember of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ (Bishop Donald Alford). Upon moving to California, she was an active member of West Angeles Church of God in Christ (Bishop Charles E. Blake), until her illness.

Catherine Trotter is survived by her daughter, Sharon Graham, and a son, Ronald Rice, both of Ontario, CA; a sister, Alma (Bill) Powell of South Bend; and a future son-in-law, Eric Nelson of Montclair, CA. Also left to mourn are a sister-in-law, Dorothy Nesbitt of South Bend, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of other family members and friends. Catherine will truly be missed.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, CA. Local arrangements were handled by Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be sent to alfordsmorutayr@comcast.net, c/o the Trotter family.
