ALMEDA R. SCOTT-MAEFIELD

Almeda R. Scott-Maefield Oct. 21, 1929 - July 19, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Almeda R. Scott-Maefield, 84, of South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. in her home. She was born to the union of Russell Lloyd Scott Sr. and Martha Ann Scott on October 21, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana.

Almeda attended Linden Elementary School and Central High School.

At the age of 11, she accepted Christ and was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Almeda married Willie Maefield on April 17, 1947, and to their union 5 children were born. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo in her younger years. Almeda was a very social person and loved spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Almeda leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Calvin Maefield of Las Vegas, Nevada, Willie Maefield III of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Melvin Maefield of Kokomo, Indiana; a son-in-law, James Martin Sr. of South Bend, Indiana; daughter, Dotty Ann Maefield of South Bend; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Maefield; a daughter, Williana Martin; a great-great-grandson, Tyrin Giden; and brothers, Russell Scott Jr., Edward "Eddie Boy" Scott, and Arnold Scott.

Services for Almeda R. Scott-Maefield will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12 noon. Condolences may be sent to www.clarkoneal.com.
