Pauline Riley, 81, of Elkhart died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at her residence.

Pauline was born on May 9, 1933, to Jerald D. and Mary Lou (Black) Heggie in Southside, TN. On March 8, 1952, she married James W. Riley. He preceded her in death in 2009.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Gehring (Ron), Pleasanton, CA and Karen Vaden (Len), Dublin, CA, and Jamie Lillard (George), Elkhart; son, William J. Riley (Kelly), Elkhart; grandchildren, Scott and Sarah Gehring and Troy and Victoria Vaden; 1 great-grandchild, Norah Vaden; sister, Patricia Pritchard, Wilmington, IL; brothers, Bill Heggie, Clarksville, TN and Jerald Heggie, La Verne, CA.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; sisters, Agnes Minton and Shirley Reardanz; and brothers, Bob and Bud Heggie.

Pauline was a graduate of Central High School, South Bend. She worked for Wilts Food and K-Mart. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Heaton Lake Conservation Club. Pauline enjoyed her cats, Facebook, feeding the birds, fishing, gambling and spending time with family and friends.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2014, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin Street, Elkhart, IN, and an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at St. Rose Church, 603 S Main St, Wilmington, IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wildlife Rehabilitator, Waterbirds at the Kuhl Spot, Salvation Army, and Center for Hospice Care.
