ERVIN A. MICHALSKI

NEW CARLISLE - Ervin A. Michalski, 85, passed away at 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, IN. Ervin was born on May 27, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Isadore and Felsie (Kulwicki) Michalski. On April 3, 1948, he married Dorothy (Piasecki) Michalski, who preceded him in death on January 26, 1982.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte (Samuel) Totten of LaPorte, IN; and by his son, Mitchell (Lorissa) Michalski; five grandchildren, Samantha (Jeremy) Miller of South Bend, Brandi Michalski of Yuma, AZ, Michelle Michalski of South Bend, Tyler Michalski of South Bend and Matthew Michalski of South Bend; a great-granddaughter, Addison Miller; and a sister, Joan (Joseph) Poole.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ross McFarland.

Ervin worked for Studebaker, the State of Indiana, and Bendix/Allied Signal until he retired in 1985. He attended Central High School and was a basketball player for Coach John Wooden.

He enjoyed Notre Dame football, Big Band music, working on cars, and playing poker and euchre. Ervin was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Mishawaka, VFW Auxiliary of Dowagiac, MI. He was very proud of his Polish heritage, and listened to the Polka Hour weekly.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 14240, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371; or to Pet Refuge, 2300 6th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
