BETTY J. (LEE) KIRKENDOLL

SOUTH BEND - Ms. Betty Jean Kirkendoll, 64, of South Bend, departed this life on Friday, October 26, 2007. Betty was born February 27, 1943. She was the daughter of Jesse James Lee and Elizabeth Johnson.

Betty is survived by six children, Bryan Kirkendoll of South Bend, Zachary (Lisa) Kirkendoll of Jacksonville, NC, Rodney (Linda) Kirkendoll of Niles, Stacey Kirkendoll of South Bend, Cynthia (Malcom) Thornton of Niles and Tyrone Sessom of South Bend; a sister, Dorothy (John Sr.) Brown of South Bend; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse James Lee and Elizabeth Johnson; a sister, Beatrice Harris; and by a son, Robert Kirkendoll of South Bend.

Betty worked 20 years at Alcoa Inc. and five years at Adapto Inc. in South Bend. She was a member of Gethsemane Church of God, Inc., of South Bend and was an active member of her westside community. Those who knew her well remember her as "Mama Kirk."

Betty was a proud alumnus of South Bend Central High School.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way, where visitation will also be held two hours prior to the 1 p.m. homegoing services on Thursday in Faith Apostolic Church, 909 N. Bendix. Burial at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. All donations may be made to the Betty Kirkendoll Family Fund. Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
