CAROLYN (BENNETT) HOCHMAN

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Carolyn B. Hochman, 71, of Duluth, GA, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007. In 1957 Mrs. Hochman received her BA degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She also completed advanced studies at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan.

From 1957 to 1960 Mrs. Hochman taught English at Central High School in South Bend, IN, and was a substitute teacher for Fulton County from 1961 to 1962.

An active church member, Mrs. Hochman served as fundraising chair for Biafra at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Benedict Catholic Church and St. Brigid Catholic Church. She served as president of the Georgia Tech Faculty Women's Club from 1975 to 1976. Mrs. Hochman was a member of the Atlanta Athletic Women's Golf Association and the Atlanta Symphony Associates Intermezzo Unit where she served in nearly every capacity including Chair from 1996 to 1998, New Member Orientation Committeeperson from 1999 to 2000, Education Concerts Chair from 2001 to 2003, and Membership Chair from 2005 to 2006. Within the Atlanta Symphony Associates she served as Showhouse Gift Shop Chair from 1999 to 2000, Publications Staff Writer from 1999 to 2000, and Membership Growth Team from 2000 to 2001.

Mrs. Hochman is survived by her husband, Robert F. Hochman Sr.; a son, Robert F. Hochman Jr. of Canton, GA; a daughter, Heather H. McGuire, Bremen; a sister, Ann Bennett, Alpharetta, GA; and four grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held today, August 10, 2007, in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Alpharetta, GA. Inurnment at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carolyn's name to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway, S-115, Duluth, GA 30097, 770-814-0123.
