SOUTH BEND - Charles Eppenger of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 14th, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. He was 67 years old. Born October 13th, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Charles was the third of eight children of the late Darnell and Cecelia (Dixon) Eppenger.

A resident of South Bend since 1946, he was a graduate of Central High School.

Charles was a U.S. Marine veteran and was most recently employed with RMG Foundry, Mishawaka.

Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by sisters, Ernestine and Harriet Eppenger.

He is survived by his children, Velinda (HK) Wilson of Bolingbrook, IL, Towanda D. and Charles E. Eppenger Jr. of Detroit, Michigan, Terrance Eppenger of South Bend, Carla Sain of Nashville, TN, Marvita (David) Robinson of Jackson, TN, and Trevon Eppenger of South Bend; brother, Adolphus Eppenger of Louisville, KY; and sisters, Sheree (Robert) Pollard of Delevan, NY, Diana (Jessie) Winston, Brenda (Lionel) Johnson and Wilehemia Eppenger of South Bend also survive him; along with eight grandchildren, Adrian Forrest, Shawella Jones and Jamarius Sain of Jackson, TN, Anthony, Antoine, Adonis and Asha Wilson of Bolingbrook, IL, Delaino, Keyanna, Quinton and De Juan Eppenger of Detroit, MI, Kenneth and Terrence Eppenger Jr. of South Bend.

Other surviving family members include nieces and nephews, Thelma Eaton and Herman Eppenger of Memphis, TN, Shevella (Terrence) Banks, Alfred (Tiffany) Fultz, D'Andre Winston and Juliet Vann of South Bend, Shayla Stroud of Indianapolis, Lawanda (William) Miller Tyrone Shelton Jr., Cedric Adams Jr., Derrick, Denisha, Dennis and Dionne Lane; Katrina (Curtis Jr.) Bethel, Richard Williams IV, Tenisha (Keith) Muhammad and Toya Shelton, all of South Bend. His companion of seventeen years, Michelle Styles; brother-in-law, Melvin Bingham; goddaughters, Lakia Simmons, Paige Austin (Tunica, Miss., and Deminika Clark; aunts, Inez Goss, Lillie Mae Barnes, Bessie Eppinger; and uncle, OD Eppinger (all of South Bend) also survive and cherish his memory.

At Charles request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437. Cobb Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
