ROBERT E. DAVIS

SOUTH BEND - Robert Earl Davis "Joe Joe," 58, began life as the sixth eldest of eight children (the youngest boy of six) born to the union of the late Evans Sr. and Laura Davis on June 22, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana. Robert passed away in Memorial Hospital on November 11, 2010, after a brief illness.

He was educated in the South Bend Community School Corporation and attended both Oliver and Linden Elementary, and South Bend Central High School.

Robert accepted Christ as a young adult and was baptized at Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to Yasmin Asirifi; no children were born from their short union. Although Robert had no children, he dearly loved and looked after many of his nieces and nephews, and his great sense of humor and priceless memories will forever be cherished. Robert's hobby was his love for cooking and was well-known for his fried chicken and sweet potatoe pies. He entered the WUBS sweet potato pie contest for the past three years and always won.

When Robert passed on from this earthly world he joined his parents, Evans Davis Sr. and Laura Davis; and three brothers, Fred Davis, Leon Davis and Thomas Davis Sr. Robert "Joe Joe" Davis. 

Robert will be greatly missed by his siblings, Evans Davis Jr., Henry L. Davis Sr. (Greta), Diane Y. Perry, Debra A. Wright (Ruben) and Patricia Davis (Fred); two aunts, Mary Hooper and Dorothy Spates; and host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert E. Davis will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010, in Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey St., South Bend, IN; visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., funeral service will begin at noon.
